Pole Princess contest - 2009

2009 Pole Princess Finalists

O

n July 23rd the posh Deja Vu of Minneapolis, Minnesota hosted the National Pole Princess Competitions for 2009. After another year of local exhibitions and breathtaking pole stunts around the country, it was finally time to head to Minneapolis for the climax of this jaw-dropping event. If you are not acquainted with this pulsating pageant and it’s past, drop a lobe and we will quickly introduce you to it’s finer points.

A

round 1991, the Deja Vu chain developed a competition suited for it’s high-flying stable of sleek entertainers. It was comprised of the best pole performers in country that appeared at their many locations coast to coast. And after several years and numerous competitions, it soon became a sport. In the 90’s it was first known as Po’lympics, and found it’s home at the Deja Vu in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This multi-level show club was ideal for such an invigorating spectacle. It contained three 22ft. poles that reached three floors to the ladies dressing room. Here after grooming and testing skit’s, it made a fantastic entrance for each entertainer. Spinning around 22 feet in the air is not for the faint-hearted, and is down right scary. But leave it to the curvaceous Deja Vu sex kittens to perform each and every show with the greatest of ease.

As the years past, it became an annual event as well as a new stage sport. Each Vu location held it’s own local and regional competition, to decide who would be the most talented and fittest to engage the tiptop performers at the nationals.

A

fter the first seven or eight years of creation, Po’lympics was forced to change it’s name. The Olympic Commission forced the change, due to a conflict of interest and claimed it was too close to the Olympic Games. At that time the venue was changed to “Pole Antic’s”...which lasted only for a few years. It was then added to the the chain’s “Showgirl Of The Year Pageant’, as merely another category, and ran for several more years. And now, in 2008, the show is back again with its high-flying stage hi-jinx and jaw-dropping excitement as “Pole Princess” Instead of two nights of performances...it was now only limited to one.
